Patricia "Pat" Fleming, State Legislature, District 25
A proud Arizonan for 40 years, Pat and her family moved to Sierra Vista in 1969 where she began to make personal and professional ties in the community. In 1981, she began working as an Army Department civilian at Fort Huachuca. She then learned how to manage complex government resources during her career with the Army as a budget analyst and a manpower allocations analyst. In August 2005, Pat retired with more than 24 years of service to the Army.
Pat's involvement in community activities began in 1980, when her sons participated in Cub Scouts and sports. Her volunteerism with organizations such as the Cochise County Search & Rescue Team, the Cochise County Victim Witness Program, Arizona Parents for Public Education (APPLE), the Southwest Association of Buffalo Soldiers, AARP, and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees have made her a leader in many spheres. Pat has also worked with the Cochise County Planning and Zoning Department as a member of the Board of Adjustment.
Pat is determined to be a leader in our state capitol and is proud to call herself a graduate from Emerge Arizona. Her Emerge training helped her develop a network and skills to help in her second election for Legislative District 25. As a candidate, some of her issues include a commitment to preserving the ranches, farms, and rural communities that underpin such a big part of Arizona's cultural heritage. She believes that economic growth must go hand in hand with carefully considered land use. She understands the necessity for Arizonans to protect the environment and reduce their dependence on fossil fuels by using solar energy and other alternative sources of power. She wants to create thousands of green jobs by making southern Arizona a national leader in solar energy.
Pat is married to Robert "Bob" Fleming, and their family includes 5 children and 12 grandchildren. She graduated from the University of Phoenix in 1984 with a degree in Business Management. Pat graduated Emerge Arizona in 2006.
